JAZZ IS NOT DEAD...IT JUST SMELLS FUNNY. ---FRANK ZAPPA |
|
Ahoy! BOZO allegro treads the common ground between Zappa and Ellington. We describe our music as "Original Rock-Jazz" (so there!). We derive enormous satisfaction from rejecting today's forward-motion-is-over, neo-classicism-reigns, fusion-is-a-dirty-word jazz sensibility (so double there!). For us, Miles Davis is the Man - and we hope we invoke his spirit of growing, changing, searching, looking for frontiers to explore, boundaries to cross, edges to go over. We don't play ballads (all of us were Ritalin poster children); we play very little swing (and only as a spice in the middle of a rock or latin or funk or reggae or hip-hop stew); and we can be pretty damn loud (all the better to move you, my dear). Simply put, we want to create vibrant improvisation-based instrumental music that makes the ear (and the foot) go "Yeah!" Today may be a terrible time for jazz, but we're happily swimming against the tide. C'mon along. A splendid time is guaranteed for all. Enjoy!

IF IT SOUNDS GOOD, IT IS GOOD. ---DUKE ELLINGTON |
